The 70th Annual Old Pens 7s kicks off on 8th June 2019 at 1pm......
About the Old Penarthians Rugby Sevens
The Old Pens 7s tournament is the oldest running sevens rugby competition in Wales. Since 1950, the event is not only the longest- running but probably the most popular sevens tournament in Wales.
The modern sevens rugby competition owes much to former President and one to whom the club will forever be indebted, Roy Churchill. For the first time in 2019, the tournament will take place on the first weekend of June.
International and other leading sevens rugby players, both past, and present, rub shoulders at the Club’s Cwrt-Y-Vil headquarters hence the Old Pens 7s has an atmosphere of keen competition and social camaraderie that is quite unique.
Each year we look to improve the event and our offering to visitors and spectators. This year sees the inaugural women’s sevens competition which will run alongside the men’s and we hope this becomes part of the event for many years to come.
Teams are attracted from far and wide by the Old Pens hospitality (and prize money). With spectators enjoying either the adults only hospitality enclosure or public food and rink areas with plenty of attractions to keep children entertained.
Whether your visiting as a player, spectator, just for the social or a family day out, we look forward to welcoming you to the Old Pens.
